Annual Inspection Scores One for POSEIDON

National Annual Inspection scores announced today, Poseidon Division earns number one in Region 9.
Being rated #1 out of the  47 units that make up Region 9 is quite an accomplishment states Executive Officer LTJG Gorecki.  It’s a testament to all of the hard work and dedication of the staff. “ All of Poseidon and especially the staff, worked as a TEAM to earn the coveted spot”.  Poseidon is definitely firing on all cylinders with LTJG Rassat at the helm setting the course and making great headway.
There is still much to be done states Gorecki.  “We have just begun and it’s going to be an exciting journey”.  We knew we were doing the right things and doing them well.  It’s nice to have all of that hard work confirmed by our annual inspection score.   Never looking back, POSEIDON is now working to improve on where they are and tightening up the ship even more.  Way To GO Poseidon Division, Score One for King Neptune!

Poseidon Division Goes From Last to Number 2 At Flagship Competition at Great Lakes Il.

It was a Cinderella type of story. From last place at the last Flagship Seamanship competition in 2008 to #2 in 2010. Poseidon division’s Flagship team lead by Team Coxswain,  Petty Officer 1st Class, Amanda J Gorecki, came out of nowhere to put POSEIDON on the map at Great Lakes.  It was a common question at Great Lakes, “Who is this Poseidon? and where are they from?”  By the end of the competition all were aware who Poseidon was as their name was called over and over again to receive awards. Out of 12 events Poseidon’s flagship team won six, received second place on three and third place on two and fourth place on one event.  Overall Poseidon gained valuable “Team Knowledge” that it had been lacking going into the event. Poseidon division will now build on the team knowledge back at the home unit stated LTJG Gorecki, Executive Officer for Poseidon.  “ This was the fourth time I have attended  Flagship” stated Gorecki.  “I had been part of the winning team for three consecutive years but taking a “new comer” unit from last to 2nd place was much more rewarding” Number 2 never felt this good.  Poseidon Division worked and practiced as a team and it really showed.  Great Job Poseidon Division, King Neptune is Proud! CPO Kincanon is Poseidon's 1st Chief Petty Officer

Commanding Officer; LTJG Rassat takes pleasure in promoting Sam Kincanon to Chief Petty Officer at a ceremony held at the hangar 25APR2010.  As Poseidon's 1st Chief Petty Officer, it was a special day. CPO Kincanon was wearing the Navy's brown shoes, typical of sailors on the aviation side of the fleet.  CPO Kincanon has earned his Private Pilots License and was awarded the NSCC "Gold Wings" over the past year. Seeing a Chief Petty Officer with gold wings and brown shoes was kind of neat states the Executive Officer. There are not many Sea Cadets that can put together all of the training and achieve those lofty goals as CPO Kincanon has.  He sets a great example for those who follow in his footsteps.

POSEIDON Is Commissioned

March 2009

It was an all hands effort to get POSEIDON Division up to the numbers needed for Commissioning. The push started in the fall of 2008.  With new staff on board, systems and procedures were developed in accordance with USNSCC regulations that put POSEIDON on the right track to Commissioning.
