What Are Sea Cadets?

Young Patriots Seeking a Challenge

Young Patriots Membership in the Sea Cadets allows teenagers to sample military life with no obligation to join any branch of the armed forces. Should cadets decide to enlist in the Navy or Coast Guard, their training may allow them entry at an advanced pay grade. Many Sea Cadets receive scholarships and appointments to military academies.

Through Sea Cadet leadership, your son or daughter will learn skills in basic seamanship and its naval adaptations, while also learning the value of patriotism, courage, self-reliance, teamwork, and accountability.

The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a nationwide organization dedicated to helping American youth realize personal success and achievement through a nautically oriented training program. There are over 300 Sea Cadet units in the United States, with units in nearly every state as well as Puerto Rico and Guam.

But membership in the NSCC does not imply any guarantees to these scholarships or selection to a service academy.

About POSEIDON Division

POSEIDON Logo The Poseidon Division is a member of the  United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC), which is a national organization of nearly 300 units dedicated to developing American youth by instilling such values as pride, discipline, honor, courage, fidelity, and patriotism. Cadets gain these qualities through a nautically oriented training program that places an emphasis on leadership, accountability, and self-reliance.

The USNSCC offers our youth, ages 11 through 17, opportunities unparalleled by any other youth organization. During the summer, Cadets train aboard US Navy and Coast Guard ships and at Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard shore installations across the country. Cadets receive instruction from, and work alongside, active duty and reserve military personnel. Cadets also have opportunities to train with international Cadet programs in Australia, Bermuda, Great Britain, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and many other countries.
